The entire collection relates to the legendary R.A.F. action, 'Operation Chastise', during World War Two. We have come to know this event as, 'The Dams Raid'.

The Dambusters Inn did not exist before 1999. Before this date, there had never been a pub in the village of Scampton. The building, however, did exist as, '23, High Street' and had been built as a private dwelling during the 18th.Century.

Ideas don't come any better; build a pub where there has never been one, in an English village that has never had one and dedicate it to the memory of the renowned 617 'Dambusters' Squadron who used to live next door not too many years ago.

Finding an apt name for the pub was not difficult. One might say, that if it was possible for a pub to name itself, this one did.
